Opportunities for Made-in-Malaysia Rubber Medical Devices in Russia
MREPC participated at the recently concluded Zdravookhraneniye exhibition held at the Expocentre Fairground, Moscow, Russian Federation from 2 - 6 December 2019. Zdravookhraneniye is an international medical exhibition with a theme of medicine, health, hygiene, social support, medical engineering, products and consumables. The show was organised in conjunction with the Russian Health Care Week campaign and co-organised by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The show entered its 29th edition this year. Apart from Zdravookhraneniye, the Russian Health Care Week also comprised other major international healthcare events such as Healthy Lifestyle, MedTravel Expo, Medical Clinics & Health and Spa Resort, Apteka, Stomatology and SportMed. Zdravookhraneniye 2019 drew over 30,000 visitors and 1,000 exhibitors from 30 countries.
A wide range of Made-in-Malaysia rubber medical devices were showcased at MREPC's promotional booth. Most of the enquiries received were from traders and importers related to surgical gloves and examination gloves for both natural rubber and nitrile. MREPC's participation in Zdravookhraneniye 2019 was successful and we look forward to participate with Malaysian manufacturers in the 30th edition of the show to be held from 7 - 10 December 2020 to further explore opportunities in the Russian market.

Rubber Automotive Components at the Forefront in Automechanika Shanghai 2019
Automechanika Shanghai is a significant event for the automotive industry in China with the theme ‘Where the future automotive ecosystem begin’. This international event marks its 15th edition this year and has become Asia’s largest trade fair for automotive parts, accessories, equipment and services. Apart from Automechanika Shanghai, there are also other concurrent event throughout four days of the show. Among the highlight of the concurrent event happening is the Auto Parts Purchasing Leadership and Suppliers Summit, Top Ten Automotive Engine Awards Ceremony, and Body & Paint World Championships. The show drew over 159,728 visitors and 6,590 exhibitors from various countries.
MREPC together with Malaysian manufacturers participated in the show which was held at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC), Shanghai, China from 3 – 6 December 2019. MREPC Pavilion accommodated a total of 10 Malaysian manufacturers who showcased a wide array of quality rubber automotive components and products. In line with the efforts to expand the exports of Made-in-Malaysia rubber products to international markets, MREPC also arranged several business matching sessions during the four-day event. MREPC took up prominent advertising signages and billboards at strategic areas within the fairground to increase awareness on Made-in-Malaysia rubber automotive components among the potential buyers. The next edition of Automechanika Shanghai is scheduled to be held from 2 – 5 December 2020 at the same venue.

MREPC Promotes Made-in-Malaysia Rubber Medical Devices at the World’s Largest Medical Devices Show
MREPC participated in MEDICA, the world’s leading trade show for medical technology, electromedical equipment, laboratory equipment, diagnostics and pharmaceuticals from 18-21 November 2019 in Dusseldorf, Germany. MREPC hosted six Malaysian rubber medical device companies under its umbrella concept pavilion. This year the show attracted more than 121,000 trade visitors from 170 countries, many of them with decision-making authority.
A wide range of Made-in-Malaysia rubber medical devices were showcased in MREPC Pavilion such as medical gloves, condoms, rubber catheters, probe covers and a variety of specialty dipped rubber medical products. A prominent giant wall poster situated on the exterior wall of Hall 7 was taken up by MREPC and featured Malaysia as the source of quality rubber medical products and helped to increase the awareness on Made-in-Malaysia rubber products among the visitors. The next edition of MEDICA will be held from 16-19 November 2020.

Exploring Market Potential of Made-in-Malaysia Rubber Medical Devices in Russia

MREPC Promotes Rubber Automotive Components at USA's Largest Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo
The Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) is the largest automotive aftermarket exhibition in USA. Held in Las Vegas, this year it featured more than 2,500 exhibitors with over 5,500 booths that showcased the latest and innovative automotive products, services and technologies. The show attracted over 51,000 visitors worldwide. For the second consecutive year, MREPC pavilion located adjacent to the main entrance of the main hall which had received encouraging response and feedback from participating Malaysian manufacturers as well as visitors.
MREPC Pavilion hosted ten Malaysian rubber automotive product companies in the show. A wide range of Made-in-Malaysia rubber automotive components and products were showcased in the Pavilion, such as moulded rubber parts, engine mountings, ignition cables, car mats, hoses, seals and gaskets, O-ring, weather-strips and industrial gloves. A prominent billboard taken up by MREPC at the hall’s main entrance had featured Malaysia as the source of quality rubber automotive components and helped to increase the awareness on Made-in-Malaysia rubber products among the visitors. The next edition of AAPEX will be held from 3 – 5 November 2020.

MREPC and Malaysian Manufacturers Promote Industrial and Household Gloves at A+A 2019
A+A is the world’s leading and important event for safety and health at work, organised biennially. This year the show was held from 5 – 8 November 2019 in Dusseldorf, Germany and registered a total of 2,121 exhibitors. It occupied more than 78,000 square metres in ten exhibition halls for the first time and welcomed over 73,000 trade visitors.
MREPC housed ten Malaysian manufacturers at the show and showcased a wide array of quality rubber gloves including industrial gloves, household gloves, chemical and oil resistant gloves, and food handling gloves. This year, MREPC Pavilion was shifted to the newly built Hall 1 from the previous location in Hall 7. The new location turned out to be more strategic with high visitors’ traffic, particularly on the first two days of the event.
MREPC also coordinated several business matching sessions between potential buyers and Malaysian manufacturers. Majority of the trade enquiries received by MREPC were from the European region while a number of visitors from the Latin American region were also recorded and they enquired mostly on Made-in-Malaysia rubber gloves. MREPC and the Malaysian rubber product manufacturers look forward to participate in the A+A 2021 which will be held from 26-29 October 2021.

Successful Gloves Awareness Programmes in India
India, one of the world's most populous nations, is an important growth market for Made-in-Malaysia rubber products. MREPC has been conducting market promotion activities in India annually for the past few years to increase awareness and explore new opportunities for Made-in-Malaysia rubber products, particularly medical gloves. Recently, MREPC organised a Specialised Gloves Mission to India from 3 - 9 November 2019. The mission covered two cities in India, namely Bengaluru and Pune. Educational seminars themed "Managing Infection Control - Selecting the Right Gloves" were held at both cities with the aim to enhance knowledge among healthcare workers in India on medical gloves and infection control. The two seminars drew participation from a total of 277 healthcare students and workers.
The mission also witnessed a donation of 1,000,000 pieces of Standard Malaysian Glove (SMG) examination gloves from MREPC to two charitable hospitals, namely Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Bengaluru and Villo Poonawalla Memorial Hospital, Pune. After the events, MREPC visited the two hospitals and conducted a glove workshop at each hospital that attracted participation from 70 and 43 healthcare workers respectively. During the mission, MREPC delegates also conducted meetings with the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) in Bengaluru and Imamia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in Pune to obtain insights on current market situation and look into possible collaboration between Malaysian and Indian companies.

MREPC Promotes Brandon Chan to CEO
The Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council (MREPC) is proud to announce the appointment of Mr Brandon Chan Siew Hon as its new Chief Executive Officer effective 14 October 2019. Brandon who graduated with an honours degree in Public Management from Universiti Utara Malaysia and a Master of Economics from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, joined MREPC in 2010 as its Deputy Director in Industry Relations & Public Affairs. He later helmed the division as its Director before leading the Marketing & Development division in the same capacity. Prior to his appointment, Brandon served as the Deputy CEO of MREPC since 2015.
In his new role, Brandon will continue to spearhead MREPC's efforts in promoting the growth of the Malaysian rubber products industry, and develop the markets for Malaysian rubber products globally.

MREPC to Participate in MEDICA 2019
MEDICA is the world’s leading trade show for medical technology, electromedical equipment, laboratory equipment, diagnostics and pharmaceuticals. This year the show will be held from 18 – 21 November 2019 in Dusseldorf, Germany. MEDICA 2019 is expected to attract over 150,000 visitors and 6,000 exhibitors from more than 70 countries who will showcase the latest advancements in medicine, treatment and equipment in 17 halls.
This year will see the debut of two special shows within MEDICA, namely “MEDICA Start-Up Park” which is targeted to promote young companies mainly in digital health, and “Wearable Technologies Show” which is a leading innovation and market development platform for technologies worn close to the body, on the body or in the body.

MREPC Pavilion at A+A 2019 - World's Leading Fair for Safety, Security and Health at Work

MREPC Conducts Gloves Awareness Programme and Explore Opportunities in Central China
MREPC organised a Specialised Gloves Mission to China from 13 - 16 October 2019. This mission focused on Xi'an which is the capital city of Shaanxi province in Central China. Three Malaysian manufacturers participated in the mission, namely Hartalega, Top Glove and YTY Group. The mission was organised to create awareness and update audiences on recent development in medical gloves and infection control as well as create networking and business opportunities for Malaysian rubber product manufacturers.
A seminar with the theme of "Disease Prevention Control: Selecting the Right Gloves" was held at the Hilton Hotel, Xi'an and attended by 94 participants comprised of doctors, nurses and distributors. The Consul General of Malaysia in Xi'an, Mr Tan Li Lung attended and delivered a speech during the seminar. A total of three papers were presented with topics focusing on Infection Control and Prevention, Understanding Medical Gloves for Better Protection and Patient Care, and Hand Hygiene. A roundtable discussion was held later on the day with participation from 33 distributors and importers of medical gloves in China. The rountable discussion had enabled the Malaysian manufacturers to interact with the importers and distributors to gather feedback on the products and healthcare industry in Xi’an. MREPC also arranged business matching sessions between the Malaysian manufacturers and potential buyers in Xi'an.
As part of the mission, a market visit was also conducted on the next day. Two organisations were visited, namely Xi'an Aging Industry Association and Global Doctor Xi'an. The delegates gained better understanding on the healthcare market potential in Xi'an and explore new opportunities in dental sector through the market visit.

The Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council (MREPC) invites Malaysian Cloud Service Providers (CSP) to participate in a tender briefing on the Selection of Cloud Service Provider for Providing Cloud Hosting Services.
Only prequalified Cloud Service Providers are eligible to participate in the tender briefing. The criteria for Prequalification of Cloud Service Providers are as follows:-
- Must be a registered company with Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).Â
- Must be an established company active in business for at least 3 years.
- Required to submit the latest 3 years audited financial statements.
- Certified/Accredited with at least Tier 3 - Concurrently Maintainable Site Infrastructure for Design Documents of the Data Center Site Infrastructure Standard or from any recognized institutions body.
Interested companies to provide the necessary supporting documents including an UPDATED company's profile and business portfolio to Mr. Ahmad Zulhilmi at zulhilmi@mrepc.com by 12.00 noon, 21st October 2019 (Monday).
The information submitted by the companies will be verified by MREPC and a notification will be sent to the prequalified companies. Specialised Gloves Mission to China
MREPC will be organising a specialised mission on medical gloves to Xi'an, China from 13 - 16 October 2019. The programme for the mission includes an educational seminar, a roundtable discussion and market visit. The seminar is part of MREPC's ongoing efforts to reach out to the healthcare fraternity in the region and raise awareness on the importance of using the right medical gloves to control the spread of infections. The roundtable discussion and market visit will enable MREPC and Malaysian glove manufacturers to gather feedback from the importers and distributors as well as exploring market opportunities in Central China region.

MREPC Promotes Made-in-Malaysia Rubber Products at International Rubber Conference
MREPC had a promotional booth at the International Rubber Conference (IRC) held in Kia Oval, London from 3 - 5 September 2019 promoting different types of rubber products for various industries and applications. The event carried the theme "Innovations in Elastomeric Materials and Products" and was organized by the Polymer Society, a division of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. Apart from the conference, the event also hosted an extensive range of training programmes allied to the rubber industry and an exhibition which showcased the latest development and innovations in rubber industry. Besides MREPC, Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre (TARRC), Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) and three Malaysian rubber product manufacturers, namely HLN Rubber, Armcrest and Kumpulan Jebco were also participated in the exhibition. The next edition of IRC will be held in Chennai, India from 15-17 October 2020.

MREPC Promotes Made-in-Malaysia Rubber Products at International Rubber Conference

Good Response at MREPC's Seminar and Technical Workshop on High-Damping Natural Rubber Bearings in Indonesia
MREPC recently concluded a Specialised Mission on Engineering Rubber Products to Indonesia from 17 - 20 September 2019. Three Malaysian engineering rubber products manufacturers participated in the mission, namely Doshin Rubber Products, Hubner Malaysia and Kinta Rubber Works. The mission, which was held in Jakarta, comprised educational seminar and technical workshop on High-Damping Natural Rubber Bearings (HDNRB) as well as business matching session between Malaysian manufacturers and Indonesian companies.
A seminar with the theme "High-Damping Natural Rubber Bearings Technology as Seismic Isolator" was held at the Pullman Thamrin Hotel and drew participation from 152 consultants, engineers, engineering academicians and students on the first day. A total of nine seminar papers were presented by seven speakers from Indonesia and Malaysia with topics focussing on Indonesian building codes, advantages of base isolation, geotechnical issues, rubber seismic bearings and other engineering rubber products. For the first time, a technical workshop on Step-by-Step Guide on HDNRB was held on the second day which saw participation from 73 consultants, engineers, and engineering students. MREPC had collaborated with Ikatan Nasional Konsultan Indonesia (INKINDO) to organize the events.
As part of the mission, a business matching session was also conducted. A total of five Indonesian companies participated and met with the three Malaysian manufacturers to get more information and explore possibilities to source engineering rubber products from Malaysia.

Good Response at MREPC's Seminar and Technical Workshop on High-Damping Natural Rubber Bearings in Indonesia

Successful Participation in the World Congress of Surgery
MREPC participated in the biennial World Congress of Surgery (WCS) held at the ICE Congress Centre, Krakow, Poland from 11-15 August 2019. The conference attracted more than 2,000 participants and 21 companies took part in the exhibition to showcase the latest technology and innovation products in healthcare. Majority of the participants were surgeons and doctors from various medical specialties worldwide. The International Society of Surgery (ISS) is one of the scientific committees for World Congress of Surgery that consists of 16 medical experts from different countries representing each branch of medical field. The event provided a platform for the mutual exchange of scientific knowledge and new technology in medical field. MREPC booth highlighted several innovative gloves and also various types of medical gloves manufactured by Malaysian companies. Malaysia will be the host country for the next edition of World Congress of Surgery which will be held from 29 August -2 September 2021 to be organised by the College of Surgeons Academy of Medicine Malaysia (CSAMM).

Minister of Primary Industries launches the Fund for Automation and Green Technology
The MREPC Fund for Automation & Green Technology was officially launched by YB. Puan Teresa Kok, Minister of Primary Industry on 13 August 2019. This is an initiative aimed at supporting rubber product companies in adopting automation and green technologies in their manufacturing processes in line with the Government’s policy of driving modernisation and digital transformation in the manufacturing sector. Moving towards Industry 4.0 will assist in enhancing the competitiveness of the rubber product sector to address challenges from the growing global economic uncertainties. The Fund provides for a matching grant of up to 50% of the project costs for qualifying rubber product manufacturers in the area of automation and green technology in the areas of solar, biomass and water resources.

Specialised Mission on Engineering Rubber Products to Indonesia
Recognising the huge market potential for construction sector in Indonesia, MREPC once again is organising a specialised mission on engineering rubber products to Jakarta from 17 – 20 September 2019. This is part of MREPC’s ongoing efforts to increase awareness and educate the engineers and consultants in Indonesia on high-quality made-in-Malaysia engineering rubber products, particularly the High-Damping Natural Rubber Bearings (HDNRB).
The programme will include a seminar entitled ‘High-Damping Natural Rubber Bearings Technology as Seismic Isolator’ and a technical workshop on HDNRB. Business matching session will also be conducted among participating Malaysian manufacturers and Indonesian participants who are interested to source quality engineering rubber products from Malaysia.

Promotion of Rubber Medical Devices in Domestic Market
MREPC had a successful participation at APHM exhibition held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 29 – 31 July 2019. This annual event is organized by the Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia (APHM) with the theme "Corporate & Clinical Governance: Partnerships & Participation" and attracted local visitors as well as several foreign participants. Aside from the exhibition, APHM also hosted three other concurrent programmes which were APHM Nursing Conference, APHM-MLSM Medico-Legal Conference and International Sourcing Programme. Besides MREPC, there were four Malaysian glove companies participated on their own, namely Hartalega, Top Glove, Cross Protection and Bergamot. MREPC also participated in the International Sourcing Programme organised by MATRADE and met with five international buyers from Argentina, India, Korea, and Peru who were interested to source quality rubber medical devices from Malaysia.

IRC will provide an excellent platform for rubber scientists, technologists, academics and industrialists to share knowledge. During the event, various papers to be presented covering keys topics themed around engineering application of elastomers, polymer innovations, process and manufacturing advancements, filler and additives developments, with additional themes on sustainability, material characterisation and modelling. MREPC Promotes Rubber Automotive Components in the Philippines
MREPC had the maiden participation at the Philippines International Auto Parts, Accessories, Service & Repair Equipment Expo (PHILAUTO) in Metro Manila from 24 - 26 July 2019. PHILAUTO was co-located with Philippines Bus & Truck and Cold Chain Philippines which also made up the biggest 3-in-1 international event for the automotive aftermarket, commercial vehicle and cold chain industry in the Philippines. The exhibition’s 6th edition hosted over 200 exhibiting companies representing 15 countries including China, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Germany, USA, Korea, UK and Singapore which served as an ideal platform to source for new suppliers, build business partnerships, connect and network with industry professionals.
MREPC’s vibrant pavilion spanned over 72sqm and hosted a total of six Malaysian rubber automotive manufacturers and exporters showcasing high quality Made-in-Malaysia rubber automotive components during the three-day event. Beside rubber automotive components, enquiries on precured treads were also received by MREPC.

Minister of Primary Industries Leads Palm Oil & Rubber Economic and Investment Mission to India
MREPC participated in a ministerial mission to India from 31 July – 2 August 2019, led by YB Puan Teresa Kok, the Minister of Primary Industries with participation from palm oil and rubber industry players. The mission covered two main cities in India, namely Mumbai and New Delhi. During the mission in New Delhi, MREPC successfully organized a networking dinner which was attended by 90 participants from local chamber of commerce, Malaysian diaspora and students in New Delhi. The guests during the dinner managed to meet and discuss matters related to rubber and palm oil industries with YB Minister as well as delegates from MREPC, Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB), Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), and Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB). Apart from the networking dinner, MREPC also organized an educational seminar entitled ‘Managing Infection Control – Selecting the Right Gloves’. The main objectives of the seminar are to raise awareness among the healthcare fraternity on the importance of proper selection and usage of medical gloves for infection control as well as to promote Malaysian rubber medical gloves. The seminar was officiated by the YB Minister. There were four speakers from India and Malaysia presented seminar papers. The seminar was attended by 165 participants. During the seminar MREPC also arranged a press conference which was attended by 15 representatives from various newspapers and magazines in New Delhi. While in New Delhi, YB Minister also met with the Honorable Mr Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, India to discuss on bilateral trade matters between Malaysia and India.

MREPC's Participation in Biennial World Congress of Surgery
The World Congress of Surgery (WCS), formerly known as International Surgical Week, was established in 1905 by the International Society of Surgery. It is the oldest international society in general surgery with more than 3,000 members worldwide. The biennial event provides a platform for various surgical specialists to meet under one roof to discuss and exchange knowledge and techniques.
The event regularly attracts more than 2,000 visitors from various medical backgrounds. WCS 2019 will stage concurrent events such as postgraduate courses, exhibition on medical products and services, and paper presentations related to clinical and experimental surgery. This year’s WCS marks its 48th edition and will be held at ICE Krakow Congress Centre in Krakow, Poland from 11 - 15 August 2019.

MREPC's Maiden Participation in International Conference on Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering 2019 in Rome
MREPC had its maiden participation at the 7th edition of the International Conference on Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering (ICEGE) 2019 in Rome, Italy from 17 - 20 June 2019. The quadrennial conference was last held in Christchurch, New Zealand in 2015. The 4-day event, which featured plenary and parallel sessions, saw the presentation of 300 proceeding papers. The 7th ICEGE attracted more than 800 participants and 16 exhibitors worldwide. The event provided a platform to discuss the latest developments and innovations in earthquake geotechnical engineering.
MREPC hosted Doshin Rubber Products under its booth to promote High-Damping Natural Rubber Bearings (HDNRB) and other engineering rubber products such as mechanical pot bearings. Visitors to MREPC’s booth showed interest in HDNRB and its mechanism. The next edition of ICEGE will be held in Osaka, Japan in 2023.

MREPC will make its maiden participation at the Philippines' leading International Auto Parts, Accessories, Service & Repair Equipment Expo (PHILAUTO) in Metro Manila from 24 to 26 July 2019. Seven Malaysian rubber automotive manufacturers and exporters will participate at the event, with six housed under MREPC’s Pavilion.
Organised by AMB Tarsus Events Group, PHILAUTO 2019 is the biggest international business-to-business event for the automotive aftermarket segment in the Philippines. This year’s PHILAUTO marks its 6th edition and will occupy a bigger exhibition space of over 9,000 sqm. It is expected to draw more than 5,000 local and international visitors. The 3-day event will feature the latest products covering automotive parts and systems, accessories, electronics and entertainment devices, as well as specialised tuning and modifications, service, repair and maintenance.

MREPC Participates in PHILAUTO 2019

MREPC's Inaugural Participation in a Specialised Pharmaceutical Trade Fair in Japan
MREPC participated in INTERPHEX Japan 2019 from 3 to 5 July 2019. The event, which is Japan's largest and Asia's leading exhibition for pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging technologies, was held at Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo, Japan. This was MREPC's first-time participation in INTERPHEX. MREPC took up an 18-sqm promotional booth during the 3-day event to showcase high-quality cleanroom products from Malaysia.
MREPC disseminated various promotional collateral materials during the event, including product flyers in Japanese, product brochures and glove samples from Malaysian cleanroom glove manufacturers, in efforts to explore and expand into the cleanroom products market in the pharmaceutical industry in Japan. MREPC's strategic placement of standing buntings at the train station's hallway heading to the hall received extensive attention from the visitors, resulting in attracting more visitors to MREPC's booth. Enquiries received by MREPC officers were mainly on nitrile and latex cleanroom gloves as well as medical gloves.
The next edition of INTERPHEX Japan will be delayed to November 25 - 27 2020 and held at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo due to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan.

Working Visit on Latex Mattresses to Australia
MREPC organised a working visit on mattresses to Australia from 30 June - 5 July 2019. Led by the Director of Marketing & Development, Mr Muhammad Fazli, the working visit covered Melbourne and Sydney, Australia's two largest markets.
Two Malaysian mattress manufacturers joined the working visit, namely Getha Sdn Bhd and AeroFoam Manufacturing Sdn Bhd. During the five-day event, the delegates met with senior officers and visited the factories of several Australian mattress manufacturers. These were Select-O-Pedic, Chiropedic, Slumbercare Bedding, AH Beard and Latex Bedding. The meetings provided the delegates with useful feedback on the mattress industry in Australia as well as the opportunity to promote the usage of Malaysian latex foam and mattresses.

The Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council (MREPC) invites Malaysian companies to participate in a tender briefing on Scoping Study on Social Compliance Readiness and Capacity Building Plan for the Rubber Products Industry
Objectives
The objectives of this project are to improve understanding of the rubber product companies' levels of awareness of the global trend towards enhanced corporate responsibility in the area of social compliance and their readiness and capacity to comply with social compliance requirements. In addition, the project also has the objective of providing rubber product companies with the requisite training on social compliance requirements through an awareness-raising as well as capacity building plan.
The successful company shall perform the following:
- Design and conduct a scoping study that will provide baseline information on the awareness and level of readiness of the 300+ rubber product companies capacity to meet social compliance requirements including their capacity building needs and challenges faced; and
- Design and implement a comprehensive capacity building plan on social compliance for the rubber product companies based on the outcomes of the study.
Eligibility Criteria
Only companies that meet the following criteria are eligible to participate in the tender briefing:
- The company must be a registered company with Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM).
- The company must be established for at least 5 years.
- The company shall have professional staff with extensive experience in social compliance work, including in sustainability management issues.
- The company's assigned team members should also have substantial experience in conducting public education and awareness of sustainability management issues especially in social compliance audit.
- The company's assigned team members should have demonstrated ability and experience in undertaking surveys and effectively facilitating/conducting workshops and engaging positively and productively with various stakeholders.
- The company must demonstrate sufficient resources in terms of manpower and be able to provide a list of the resource persons that will be engaged in the work on the two components.

MREPC's Maiden Participation at INTERPHEX Japan 2019

MREPC's Participation in Hospitalar 2019
Hospitalar 2019, which was the 26th edition, proved to be a major healthcare exhibition for the Latin American market. Held at Expo Centre Norte in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the 4-day event from 21 – 24 May 2019 hosted more than 1,000 exhibitors and attracted over 80,000 visitors. MREPC’s participation at Hospitalar 2019 marked its return after its last participation in 2008.
Enquiries received by MREPC’s promotional booth were mainly on medical gloves. The most number of enquiries were from Brazil, followed by Chile, Argentina and Bolivia. Apart from the regular promotional collateral, MREPC has also developed a new Product Catalogue in Portuguese and Spanish to cater for the Latin America market. MREPC also had a prominent banner put up in the exhibition hall to highlight quality rubber medical devices from Malaysia.
The Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA) has recently published RDC 270/2019 which provides a new notification pathway for Class I medical devices and IVDs. Qualifying low-risk medical devices will not undergo full ANVISA registration. For more information, please visit:

The Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council (MREPC) invites Malaysian contractors to participate in a tender briefing on booth design and construction of MREPC pavilion at international trade shows from November 2019 to January 2020.
Only prequalified booth contractors are eligible to participate in the tender briefing. The criteria for Prequalification of Booth Contractors are as follows:-
- Must be a registered company with Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM).
- Company must be established for at least 3 years.
- At least 2 years of experience in handling international trade shows.
- Experience in designing and constructing custom-made booths in at least 6 projects for international trade shows.
- Not suspended from participating in the booth construction and design tenders by MREPC.

Tender Briefing on Booth Design and Construction of MREPC Pavilion at International Trade Shows from November 2019 to January 2020

Successful Participation at CMEF Spring 2019
MREPC concluded another successful participation at the 81st China International Medical Equipment Fair, commonly known as CMEF Spring which was held from 14 – 17 May 2019 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre in Shanghai, China. The event saw MREPC constructing its largest Malaysian Pavilion since participating at CMEF, taking up 153 square meters from 126 square meters previously. The pavilion accommodated 12 Malaysian manufacturers who showcased a wide array of rubber medical gloves and other rubber medical devices.
MREPC's pavilion attracted many visitors who were keen in seeking high-quality made-in-Malaysia rubber medical devices. MREPC also received an encouraging number of trade enquiries with the majority from China and the Asian region. Concurrent business-matching sessions between the participating manufacturers and prospective buyers were conducted at MREPC's booth throughout the 4-day trade exhibition. MREPC also took the opportunity offered under the CMEF Spring Country Day to organise an educational seminar entitled “Managing Infection Control: Selecting the Right Gloves”. The seminar drew over 60 participants.

MREPC will lead 12 Malaysian rubber medical device manufacturers to participate in the 81st China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF Spring) from 14 - 17 May 2019 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre in Shanghai, China. This year, MREPC is taking up a bigger space of 153 sqm for its pavilion, the largest ever for its participation in CMEF.
CMEF is deemed as the largest trade show of medical devices, related products and services in the Asia-Pacific region. The trade show covers more than 15,000 products such as medical imaging, IVD equipment and reagents, medical electronics, medical optics, first aid, rehabilitation devices, nursing, telemedicine, wearable devices and outsourcing services. CMEF serves the entire value chain of medical devices from the source of manufacturing to healthcare service providers and end users.

MREPC's Working Visit to Meet Indonesian Engineering Consultants
MREPC organised a working visit on engineering rubber products to Jakarta, Indonesia from 29 – 30 April 2019. The working visit was led by the CEO of MREPC, Mr John Kasilingam. Four Malaysian engineering rubber product manufacturers participated in the working visit, namely KMK Rubber Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd., Doshin Rubber Products (M) Sdn. Bhd., Weir Minerals Malaysia, and M One Rubber Sdn. Bhd.
The delegates had fruitful discussions with six engineering consultant companies during the two-day event. The meetings enabled the Malaysian delegates to promote Malaysian engineering rubber products that could be used in Indonesia's construction sector, as well as provided useful feedback regarding upcoming construction projects throughout Indonesia.

MREPC to Participate in 26th Hospitalar

Working Visit to Indonesia on Engineering Rubber Products
MREPC will organise a working visit to Jakarta, Indonesia from 28 April - 1 May 2019. MREPC's Chief Executive Officer, Mr John Kasilingam, will lead the delegation. The working visit will focus on promoting the usage of quality engineering rubber products from Malaysia in the construction sector in Indonesia. Meetings with several Indonesian engineering consulting firms have been arranged to explore possible collaboration with Malaysian engineering rubber product manufacturers. The meetings will provide a good platform to introduce Malaysian quality engineering rubber products, particularly High-Damping Natural Rubber Bearings (HDNRB) as well as other products such as bridge bearings, expansion joints, dock fenders, and rail pads that are suitable for the Indonesian construction sector.

Working Visit to Indonesia on Engineering Rubber Products

MREPC's Successful Participation at Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2019
MREPC had a promotional booth at the biennial Automechanika Kuala Lumpur held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 21 -23 March 2019. The event attracted more than 8,000 visitors and about 300 exhibitors from China, Europe, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore and Middle East countries. The Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry YB. Dr Ong Kian Ming visited MREPC's booth after the opening ceremony. Five Malaysian rubber automotive component manufacturers also participated at the show, namely HML Auto Industries, Schmaco Auto Parts Industries, Jeb Auto, Associated First Rubber and Kossan Industries.
The majority of enquiries received by MREPC were from local visitors as well as visitors from China, Australia, Russia, Turkey, Philippines, Hungary, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Spain. Most of the enquiries were on parts for passenger vehicles such as hoses, industrial gloves, CV boots, engine mountings, car mats, seals, gaskets, beltings and O-rings.
During the exhibition, MREPC in collaboration with the show organiser held a Buyers' Sourcing Programme on rubber automotive components. A total of 10 business-matching sessions were coordinated between potential foreign buyers and Malaysian rubber automotive component manufacturers. As part of the programme, MREPC also organised factory visits for the foreign buyers to Associated First Rubber and Pong Codan. The Buyers’ Sourcing Programme provided an effective platform to showcase Malaysian manufacturers’ capabilities in producing quality rubber products as well as the opportunity for overseas buyers to source rubber products directly from Malaysian manufacturers. MREPC's Successful Participation at Arab Health 2019
With continuous expansion over the years, Arab Health is the largest gathering of healthcare and trade professionals in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region as well as an ideal platform to source medical supplies. The 44th edition of Arab Health was held from 28 - 31 January 2019 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. A new feature, the Innov8 talks, was introduced for all start-ups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) focused in the field of healthcare. The Innov8 Talks, which took place at the new Innovation Hub, comprised 8 pitches each lasting 8 minutes.
MREPC together with 12 Malaysian rubber medical device manufacturers participated at Arab Health 2019, to showcase and promote high-quality made-in-Malaysia rubber medical devices. This year the MREPC Pavilion, which took up a bigger space expanding to 132sqm from 105sqm previously, was located in a new venue at the upgraded Pavilion Hall.
MREPC's vibrant pavilion with its iconic corporate colours - canary yellow and lime green, succeeded in drawing a significant number of people. Nearly 3,000 visitors visited MREC's pavilion with more than 2,000 trade leads recorded. The enquiries received were mainly from Middle East, South Asian and African countries. The participating Malaysian manufacturers reported promising potential sales for the next 12 months. Most of them expressed satisfaction with Arab Health 2019 and looked forward to participating in the upcoming edition which is scheduled to be held from 27 - 30 January 2020.

Tender Briefing on the Procurement of Examination Gloves
The Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council (MREPC) invites Malaysian glove manufacturers to participate in a tender briefing on the procurement of examination gloves for MREPC gloves donation activities.
Only prequalified glove manufacturers are eligible to participate in the tender briefing. The criteria for Prequalification of Glove Manufacturers are as follows:-
- Malaysian registered companies incorporated under the Companies Act 1965.
- Hold valid Lesen Mengeksport Sarung Tangan Getah (LMSTG) issued by the Malaysian Rubber Board.
- Manufacturers of rubber products who contribute to cess.
- Manufacturers of SMG Powder-Free gloves and Nitrile gloves.
Interested manufacturers will need to provide the necessary supporting documents to fulfil the above requirements through email to MREPC. However, for manufacturers that MREPC is already in possess or knowledge of all the above requirements for their companies, they will only need to submit their intention to participate in the tender exercise by writing down their intention and email it to MREPC.
All submission related to this tender exercise must be addressed to Mr Syazwan at syazwan@mrepc.com by 12.00 noon, 21 February 2019 (Thursday).
The information submitted by the manufacturers will be verified by MREPC and a notification will be sent to the prequalified glove manufacturers.
The prequalified glove manufacturers will need to confirm their attendance at the tender briefing in advance with Mr Syazwan at syazwan@mrepc.com.
Manufacturers that are not able to send their representative to attend the briefing will be excluded from the tender process.

Tender Briefing on Booth Design and Construction of MREPC Pavilion at CMEF Spring 2019 & PHILAUTO 2019
The Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council (MREPC) invites Malaysian contractors to participate in a tender briefing on booth design and construction of a MREPC pavilion at CMEF Spring 2019 and PHILAUTO 2019.
Only prequalified booth contractors are eligible to participate in the tender briefing. The criteria for Prequalification of Booth Contractors are as follows:-
- Must be a registered company with Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM).
- Company must be established for at least 3 years.
- At least 2 years' experience in handling international trade shows.
- Experience in designing and constructing custom-made booths in at least 6 projects for international trade shows.
- Not suspended from participating in the booth construction and design tenders by MREPC.
Interested companies will need to provide the necessary supporting documents including an UPDATED company's profile and portfolio to fulfil the above requirements to Ms Amirah at nuramirah@mrepc.com by 12.00 noon, 16 January 2019 (Wednesday).

MREPC Participates in Arab Health 2019
MREPC will kick off the year with its customary participation at Arab Health, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 28 to 31 January 2019. Following the enthusiastic response from the industry members, MREPC will take up an expanded pavilion from 105sqm in 2018 to 132sqm. The pavilion will house a total of 12 Malaysian manufacturers of medical gloves, condoms, rubber catheters and other rubber medical devices. MREPC's pavilion will also move to a new location at the upgraded Pavilion Hall.
Arab Health is the largest annual gathering of healthcare professionals and industry players in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
