The MRC Global Funding for Rubber Innovation is a grant provided by the Malaysian Rubber Council (MRC) to seed innovative inter-disciplinary non-fundamental research with the potential to promote investments in high-value products and technologies within rubber and rubber products industry.
MRC Global Funding for Rubber Innovation aims to encourage the generation of ideas, innovations and inventions for rubber products and technologies with good commercial viability to attract investment by the Malaysian rubber industry.

The GFRI Roadshow is organized by MRC with the purpose of publicizing the GFRI programme to the research community. Apart from that, the roadshow also acts as a meeting point for the exchange of information between the rubber industries and researchers.
During this roadshow, researchers were briefed on the overview of the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors of the rubber industry. The briefings helped the participants to further understand in general, the whole supply chain and manufacturing processes involved in each sector of the rubber industry. Throughout the presentations, the speakers also impart information on several focus areas of research for funding opportunities.

The application is open to all local and overseas researchers from universities,
research institutions, other institutes of higher learning and companies based in Malaysia and overseas.
Applicants are required to submit a "Preliminary Proposal" via the MRC GFRI online system prior to "Full Proposal" submission. Applicants must have the knowledge and competency to carry out the project successfully to completion.
Upon completion, the project will undergo commercialisation process under the purview of Commercialisation & Investment Unit of MRC and the project leader is required to support the transfer of technology process.
Applications can be submitted throughout the year.
