MREPC Participated in Agri-Commodity Mission to Japan
MREPC participated in an agri-commodity mission to Japan from 13 - 16 December 2017, led by YB Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities. Apart from rubber, the mission covered palm oil and timber. One of the objectives of the mission was to promote and strengthen exports of agri-commodity products to Japan.
Also on the itinerary was a half-day roundtable discussion with key Japanese rubber industry importers, buyers, distributors and associations, jointly organised by MREPC and the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB). Among the objectives of the roundtable discussion were to explore business and investment opportunities in the rubber trade sector as well to update on Malaysian rubber technologies and products. Datuk Seri Mah delivered the welcoming remarks at the roundtable discussion. Key rubber industry associations at the roundtable discussion included Japan Rubber Manufacturers' Association, Rubber Trade Association of Japan, and Japan Automobile Tyre Manufacturers Association. The roundtable session also provided a platform to gather interest and feedback from the Japanese industry members on Malaysian rubber and rubber products. The delegates from MREPC and MRB also joined the reception dinner-cum-business meeting with the Minister which was attended by Japanese commodities' industry members.

Datuk Seri Mah to Lead Technical and Promotional Mission to Japan on Agri Commodities
MREPC will be participating in a mission to Japan from 13 - 16 December 2017, led by YB Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities. The ministerial mission will cover multi-commodities from rubber, palm oil, timber, and pepper to cocoa.
During the mission, MREPC and the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) will be organising a half-day roundtable discussion with raw rubber and rubber product importers, buyers, distributors and associations in Tokyo. The main objectives are to: forge closer relationship and networking among industry players in Japan and Malaysia; explore potential collaboration in the development of the rubber industry; and exchange information with key industry members. MREPC will also participate in a reception dinner-cum-business meeting with multi-commodity stakeholders. During the dinner, invited guests will be able to meet and discuss matters related to the rubber industry with the Minister as well as top officials from MREPC and MRB.

Successful Participation at Automechanika Shanghai 2017
Marking its 13th edition this year, Automechanika Shanghai 2017, which took place from 29 November - 2 December 2017 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC), Shanghai, China, posted its most successful results to date. The event's continued success is demonstrated through its growing exhibition space, which increased by 9% to 340,000 sqm. The total number of exhibitors also grew by 5% to reach 6,051 from 40 countries compared to the last edition. Likewise, the number of trade visitors rose by 9% to over 130,000 from last year.
The 84sqm vibrant MREPC Pavilion housed 8 Malaysian manufacturers, who showcased a wide array of quality rubber automotive components and products. In line with efforts to further increase export of made-in-Malaysia quality rubber products to global markets, business meetings were also coordinated during the 4-day event to match potential buyers with Malaysian manufacturers.
MREPC received a higher number of visitors this year with most enquiries on industrial gloves, engine mountings, dust covers as well as gasket and seals. MREPC will continue to participate in the next edition of Automechanika Shanghai to increase visitors awareness on Malaysia as a source of quality rubber automotive components and products.

Made-in-Malaysia Rubber Medical Devices Promoted at the World's Largest Medical Show - MEDICA 2017
MREPC participated at MEDICA 2017 in Dusseldorf, Germany from 13 to 16 November. MEDICA 2017, which ran concurrently with COMPAMED, a leading trade fair for medical technology products and services, has again proven its reputation as the world's premier trade show for the medical technology industry.
MEDICA continued to exert a high degree of international impact, drawing more than 120,000 visitors from 130 countries this year. Over 60% of the visitors were from countries outside Germany. Apart from European visitors, there were visitors from China, India, Columbia and Nepal. In terms of exhibitors, a large proportion of the 5,100 exhibitors came from abroad representing more than 60 countries who showcased a wide range of products from outpatient to inpatient care sectors as well as innovations in products for the sports segment.
MREPC's promotional booth, which was strategically located at Hall 7, managed to receive more than 200 enquiries, mostly on medical gloves, both surgical and examination. Condoms and probe covers were among the most sought rubber medical devices among the visitors to MREPC's booth.
There was strong presence of Malaysian rubber medical device companies at this year's MEDICA, with the participation of 20 companies. These included Adventa, Alliance Rubber, AXG Industries, Careplus, Central Medicare, Cross Protection, Diptech, Hartalega, Karex, Koon Seng, Kossan, Meditech, Riverstone, Rubberex, Sanctuary Health, Smart Glove, Supermax, Top Glove, WRP and YTY. Most of the participating companies were satisfied with the response to MEDICA 2017, with some receiving significant new business leads.

Invitation to Participate in a Tender Briefing for Booth Design and Construction for MREPC's Trade Shows from March to July 2018
The Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council (MREPC) invites Malaysian contractors to participate in a tender briefing for booth design and construction for MREPC's trade shows from March to July 2018.
Only prequalified booth contractors are eligible to participate in the tender briefing. The criteria for Prequalification of Booth Contractors are as follows:-
- A registered company with Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM).
- Company must be established for at least 3 years.
- At least 2 years' experience in handling international trade shows.
- Experience in designing and constructing custom-made booths in at least 6 projects for international trade shows.
- Not suspended from participating in the booth construction and design tenders by MREPC.
Interested companies will need to provide the necessary supporting documents including the UPDATED company's profile and portfolio to fulfil the above requirements to Ms Sheen at sheen@mrepc.com on or before 12.00 noon, 8th December 2017 (Friday).
The information submitted by the companies will be verified by MREPC and a notification will be sent to the prequalified booth contractors/companies. The prequalified companies will need to confirm their attendance at the tender briefing in advance with Ms Sheen at sheen@mrepc.com. Companies that are not able to send their representative to attend the briefing will be excluded from the tender process.

MREPC to Participate at Automechanika Shanghai 2017
MREPC will be participating at Automechanika Shanghai 2017, a significant event for the automotive industry in China. This international event, which is the world's second largest brand trade fair for automotive parts, equipment and service suppliers, connects every element in the automotive supply chain. The co-located REIFEN zone is added to this year's Automechanika Shanghai to cater for tyres, wheels and rim-related products.
The trade fair, which will be held from 29 November - 2 December 2017 at the National Exhibition and Conference Centre, Shanghai, China is expecting 6,000 exhibitors and 130,000 visitors worldwide. MREPC's Pavilion will be hosting a total of eight Malaysian manufacturers of high-quality rubber automotive components at the event.

MREPC to Participate at Automechanika Shanghai 2017
Exploring the Latest Technologies in Automation and Robotics in Japan and South Korea
MREPC organised a working visit to Japan and South Korea from 5- 11 November 2017 to explore the latest technologies in machinery, automation and robotics. The delegation, which was led by the Chief Executive Officer of MREPC, Ms Low Yoke Kiew, comprised six Malaysian dry rubber product manufacturers as well as a representative from the Malaysian Rubber Products Manufacturers Association (MRPMA).
The delegation visited the manufacturing facilities of some Japanese and South Korean companies and were exposed to the latest technologies in machinery, robotics and automation. In Japan, the Malaysian delegates met with officials from Matsuda Seisakusho, NIKKIREN, Robot Revolution Initiative and Mitsuba. In South Korea, the delegates had meetings with HYRobotics, Daechang Machinery, Shin Chang Precision and Hyundai Robotics.
The visit served two objectives: first, to witness first-hand the latest technologies in machinery, robotics and automation offered by Japanese and South Korean companies and consider possible adoption towards further improving efficiency of the manufacturing process; and second, to pave the way for collaboration between Malaysian dry rubber product manufacturers with Japanese and South Korean companies in machinery, robotics and automation.

MREPC Participated at Medic West Africa 2017
MREPC participated at the recent 7th Medic West Africa from 11 - 13 October 2017 in Lagos, Nigeria. This was the first year the event was held at the Landmark Centre, which brought together exhibitors and conference participants under one roof. A total of 300 local and international exhibitors from more than 25 countries participated at the show.
MREPC displayed a wide range of rubber medical devices, including rubber medical gloves, condoms and catheters at the exhibition. During the 3-day event, MREPC received many enquiries from trade visitors. The majority of enquiries received touched on rubber medical gloves while visitors to MREPC's booth were mostly locals and mainly importers.

MREPC Leads a Working Visit to Japan and South Korea for the Dry Rubber Sector
MREPC is organising a working visit to Japan and South Korea from 5 - 11 November 2017 aimed at further exploring possibilities for joint cooperation among Malaysian dry rubber product manufacturers with Japanese and South Korean companies in machinery, automation and robotics. Led by MREPC's Chief Executive Officer, Ms Low Yoke Kiew, the delegation will comprise several representatives from the Malaysian rubber products industry, particularly the dry rubber sector.
The Malaysian delegates will be meeting with leading machinery, robotics and automation companies in Japan and South Korea. This will enable them to assess at first-hand the suitability of adopting the latest technologies in machineries, automation and robotics offered by the Japanese and South Korean companies to further improve their manufacturing and production processes as well as quality control.

MREPC Participated at the 31st edition of A+A
MREPC participated at A+A 2017, the world's largest trade fair on occupational safety, protection and health, in Düsseldorf, Germany from 17 - 20 October 2017. This year marked the 31st edition of A+A and MREPC's 4th participation in the biennial event.
MREPC participated together with ten Malaysian rubber product manufacturers who showcased a wide array of quality and innovative rubber personal protective equipment. This year MREPC had its pavilion in a more strategic location, shifting from the previous side hall to the main hall. The new location managed to draw more visitors to MREPC's pavilion throughout the 4-day event. In addition, MREPC's booth was busy with business-matching sessions between potential buyers and the Malaysian manufacturers. MREPC received a high number of trade enquiries while the participating manufacturers reported a higher value of potential sales over the next twelve months. This positive outcome reflects the confidence of buyers in the capability of Malaysian manufacturers to comply with the EU's new regulation on personal protective equipment.
Notably, the Malaysian participants gained insightful information regarding the evolvement of the global personal protective equipment market from the A+A event. Thus MREPC and the Malaysian rubber product manufacturers look forward to participating in the next edition of A+A which will be held from 5 - 8 November 2019.

MREPC to Participate At AAPEX 2017, a Premier World Event Representing the Global Aftermarket Autocare Industry
Co-owned by the Auto Care Association and Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), AAPEX is a premier world event representing the global aftermarket autocare industry estimated at USD356 billion. AAPEX 2017 will feature over 2,200 automotive aftermarket manufacturers and suppliers showcasing innovative products, services and technologies to more than 44,000 targeted buyers.
MREPC will be participating at AAPEX, which will be held in Sands Expo, Las Vegas, US from 31 October - 2 November, along with 9 Malaysian rubber product manufacturers. MREPC to Participate at CMEF Spring 2017
MREPC will participate at the autumn edition of the China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) 2017 to be held at the Kunming Dianchi Convention & Exhibition Centre, Yunnan Province, from 29 October - 1 November 2017.
Launched in 1979 and held twice annually in spring and autumn, this will be the 78th edition of the exhibition. After 39 years of continuous innovation and self-improvement, CMEF has become the largest fair of medical devices and related products & services in the Asia-Pacific region. The fair covers a wide range of 15,000 products such as medical imaging, IVD equipment and reagents, medical electronics, medical optics, first aid, rehabilitation devices, nursing, telemedicine and outsourcing services.
CMEF Autumn 2017 is expected to draw more than 4,000 medical device manufacturers from 28 countries and 120,000 visitors from government procurement agencies, distributors and dealers. CMEF offers an ideal platform for trading, discovering new products and exchange of information.

MREPC to Participate at CMEF Spring 2017
MREPC Conducts Educational Programme on Medical Gloves in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad
MREPC's seminar on "Managing Infection Control 'Selecting the Right Gloves' in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad drew a good crowd of more than 300 participants comprising nursing students and healthcare workers, as well as rubber medical device importers and distributors. The seminars were conducted during the recent specialised mission on rubber medical gloves to India from 8 - 14 October 2017 which was led by the CEO of MREPC, Ms Low Yoke Kiew. The educational seminars are part of MREPC's continuous efforts to reach out to healthcare personnel in India to enhance awareness and promote the proper usage of rubber medical gloves to minimise infections.
The itinerary also included roundtable discussions with rubber medical device importers and distributors in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. The interactive discussions provided useful feedback on trade in rubber medical devices between Malaysia and India as well as updates on India's healthcare industry.
The delegates also visited the Federation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTAPCCI), and Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospital in Hyderabad to establish networking and learn the latest developments in the healthcare sector in India.

MREPC Conducts Educational Programme on Medical Gloves in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad
Launch of MREPC Industry Linkage Fund by YB Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities
MREPC's inaugural Industry Linkage Fund was officially launched by YB Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities at an event themed 'Enhancing Competitiveness through Research Collaboration' on 26 September 2017. Marking another initiative to support the rubber products industry, the Industry Linkage Fund will encourage research and development (R&D) in the industry, apart from activities related to market promotion and human capital development. The industry linkage fund serves as a platform to leverage the strengths and expertise of local public and private universities, as well as Malaysian research institutes to undertake market driven research. This will benefit the industry in terms of enhancing innovation and competitiveness and help increase exports of Malaysian rubber products.
At the event, MREPC signed a Certificate of Cooperation with the Malaysian Rubber Board, Malaysian Rubber Products Manufacturers Association, Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers Association and ten universities, namely Universiti Malaya, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Monash University, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, University of Nottingham Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia and Universiti Malaysia Perlis. YB Datuk Seri Mah witnessed the signing ceremony.
In conjunction with the launching of the fund, YB Datuk Seri Mah also presented MREPC Scholarship Awards 2017 to 29 recipients who are currently pursuing undergraduate programmes at public and private universities. Introduced in 2010, the MREPC Scholarship programme is aimed at providing financial support to deserving young Malaysians as well as supplying a pool of talents to the rubber products industry.

MREPC will participate at the A+A 2017 in Düsseldorf, Germany from 17-20 October 2017 together with ten Malaysian rubber product manufacturers. The event provides an international platform to showcase the entire range of products and services on occupational safety, personal protection and health at work. A+A 2017 is expected to draw more than 1,800 exhibitors and 65,000 visitors.

MREPC to Participate at A+A 2017, the World's Largest Trade Fair on Occupational Safety, Protection and Health
MREPC's Maiden Participation at Medic West Africa 2017
MREPC will participate for the first time at Medic West Africa from 11 - 13 October 2017 in Lagos, Nigeria. The 6th annual event of Medic West Africa will move to a new state-of-the-art exhibition venue, the Landmark Centre, Lagos.

Specialised Mission to India on Rubber Medical Devices
In an effort to further increase awareness and educate the target audience in India on Malaysian rubber medical gloves as well as other rubber medical devices, MREPC is organising a specialised mission to Hyderabad and Ahmedabad, India from 8 - 14 October 2017. The mission will be led by Ms Low Yoke Kiew, Chief Executive Officer of MREPC.
An educational glove seminar themed 'Managing Infection Control - Selecting the Right Gloves' will be held in Hyderabad on 10 October and Ahmedabad on 12 October. The seminar will be followed by a business-matching session with rubber medical device manufacturers from Malaysia.
To gather feedback and exchange information with key industry players, such as rubber medical device importers, buyers, distributors and associations, MREPC will also be organising a half-day roundtable discussion with them. During the mission, there will also be working visits to the relevant organisations to establish networking with industry members and have a better understanding of the market situation in India.

MREPC's Inaugural Participation at Hose Manufacturers Conference 2017
MREPC will participate for the first time at Hose Manufacturers Conference 2017 from 24 to 25 October 2017. Jointly organised by Rubber & Plastics News, Beaver Manufacturing Company and Continental ContiTech, the event will be held at the Hilton Akron-Fairlawn in Akron, Ohio, USA. The 2017 Conference will explore topics such as innovations in materials, processes and technology relating to the hose industry.
MREPC will participate at the trade exhibition of the conference to showcase various types of extruded and mandrel built rubber hoses which cater to different applications such as abrasion, air, automobile, chemicals, marine and others.

Conferment of Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS) to YB Dato Hj Ahmad Lai Bin Bujang
MREPC extends its heartiest congratulations to YB Dato Hj Ahmad Lai Bin Bujang, Chairman of MREPC, on being conferred the Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS) award, which carries the title Dato, by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud in conjunction with his 81st birthday celebration on 9 September 2017.
YB Dato Hj Ahmad, the Member of Parliament for Sibuti, Sarwak, was appointed Chairman of MREPC on 1 January 2014.

21st Western Chengdu Medical Devices (Autumn) Fair 2017
MREPC will make its debut at the 21st Western Chengdu Medical Devices (Autumn) Fair from 20 - 22 September 2017 at Chengdu Century City New International Exhibition Centre. During the 3-day event, MREPC will showcase high-quality Malaysia-made rubber medical devices such as medical gloves, catheters, condoms, breathing bags and probe covers.
The fair is co-organised by Chengdu Kang Bo Service, Chengdu Province Hospital Association and Chengdu Medical Devices Association. Covering a floor space of 40,000m², the exhibition is expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors.

MREPC participated at the biennial World Congress of Surgery (WCS) 2017 held in Congress Centre Basel, Switzerland from 13 - 16 August 2017. The event attracted more than 2,000 visitors, the majority of whom were surgeons from various medical specialties worldwide.
MREPC participated with two other Malaysian rubber glove manufacturers at WCS 2017. Wear Safe Malaysia participated under MREPC's umbrella booth concept while Adventa Health participated on its own. The wide range of surgical gloves showcased at the trade exhibition impressed the visitors with regards to the capability and variety of gloves produced by Malaysia. More than 90% of the enquiries received by MREPC were on medical gloves, particularly synthetic surgical gloves with very low Acceptable Quality Level (AQL).

MREPC Promotes Malaysian Rubber Medical Devices in Xiamen and Guangzhou
Recognising the importance and huge potential of China's market for Malaysian rubber products, MREPC organised a specialised mission to China from 20 - 26 August 2017. Led by Ms Low Yoke Kiew, CEO of MREPC, the focus of the mission was on rubber medical devices in the cities of Xiamen and Guangzhou.
The delegation met with medical professionals and healthcare personnel during the educational seminars in Xiamen and Guangzhou which featured experts from China and Malaysia. The educational seminars were part of MREPC's continuous efforts to reach out to healthcare personnel in China to enhance awareness and promote the proper usage of rubber medical gloves in minimising hospital-acquired infections. Besides highlighting current developments in the healthcare industry, the seminars provided a platform for industry experts to establish networking with the Malaysian delegation. The seminars were well attended drawing more than 200 participants.
The mission also comprised business-matching sessions for eight Malaysian manufacturers who participated in the programme, namely Koon Seng, Top Glove, TCS Quality, Hartalega, Adventa, Riverstone, Titi Glove and Biomax. The itinerary also included a roundtable discussion with rubber medical device importers, buyers, distributors and associations in Xiamen and Guangzhou. The interactive discussions provided useful feedback on trade in rubber medical devices between Malaysia and China as well as updates on China's healthcare industry.
The delegates also visited Nosocomial Infection Control Centre and Camphill Group in Xiamen as well as the Guangdong Private Dental Association and Double One Latex Products Co. Ltd in Guangzhou to learn the latest developments in infection control and the healthcare sector in China.

MREPC will make its maiden participation at the 2017 China Dental Show (CDS 2017) in Shanghai, P.R. China from 21 - 24 September 2017.
The trade show, which is jointly organised by the Chinese Stomatological Association and Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions, will be held at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre, Shanghai. Covering a total exhibition space of 50,000 m2, CDS 2017 is expected to receive over 70,000 visitors.

MREPC to Participate at China Dental Show 2017 in Shanghai
MREPC Participated at New Venue of FIME 2017
MREPC participated at the 27th Florida International Medical Expo (FIME) held from 8 - 10 2017 in Orlando, moving from Miami for the first time. Visitors to FIME looked for the latest medical equipment, products, supplies, technologies and services as well as learnt from industry experts during the three-day seven-track educational conferences.
MREPC and five co-exhibitors displayed various rubber products including examination gloves, surgical gloves and other rubber medical devices at the exhibition. Most of the visitors to the Malaysian Pavilion were locals and Latin Americans. The majority of enquiries received were on medical gloves, including latex and nitrile examination and surgical gloves.

Successful Participation at Medicall 2017, Chennai Edition
MREPC has once again posted a successful participation at the 17th edition of Medicall in Chennai. The 3-day event was held from 28 - 30 July 2017 at the Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai, India. Four Malaysian rubber medical device manufacturers, namely Biomax, Hartalega, Top Glove and Winmed, participated under MREPC's vibrant pavilion to promote made-in-Malaysia high-quality rubber medical gloves.
A total of 650 exhibitors from 13 countries and more than 10,000 visitors took part in the event which is deemed as India's premier hospital needs and equipment exposition. Concurrent conferences were organised with presentations by experts from around the world while innovation awards were given to outstanding players from the healthcare industry during Medicall 2017.
Throughout the 3-day event, MREPC's booth was busy with business-matching sessions with potential buyers and trade enquiries. Positive potential sales were reported by all the Malaysian participating manufacturers.

Since 1905, the International Society of Surgery (ISS) has organised the World Congress of Surgery (formerly called International Surgical Week) once every two years. The aim of the World Congress of Surgery (WCS) is to have all surgical subspecialties meet under one roof and enhance a mutual exchange of knowledge and techniques. The WCS regularly attracts some 2,000+ surgeons from all over the world. A trade exhibition to showcase products, services and educational programmes related to clinical and experimental surgery is also held in conjunction with the WCS.

The 27th series of FIME sees it moving from Miami to Orlando. Strengthening Trade in Rubber & Rubber Products and Enhancing Collaboration on Rubber Industry Development with Philippines
MREPC participated in a promotional mission on rubber and rubber products to the Philippines from 17 - 20 July 2017, with the aim to strengthen trade in rubber and rubber products as well as foster further collaboration on the development of the rubber industry. The mission was led by the Honourable Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, with participation from various agencies. During the mission, MREPC and the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) jointly organised a half-day roundtable discussion with raw rubber and rubber products importers, buyers, distributors and associations. The aim of the roundtable session was to get feedback on issues and concerns from the Philippines industry members pertaining to trade in rubber and rubber products. Datuk Seri Mah delivered the welcoming remarks at the roundtable discussion. The interactive discussion provided useful feedback on trade in rubber and rubber products between Malaysia and the Philippines as well as updates on the Philippines rubber industry.
The delegates from MREPC and MRB also made a courtesy call on the Under Secretary of Department of Agriculture and the Secretary of Department of Trade and Industry. They also visited the liaison office of the Philippines Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) and met with officials from the Philippines Rubber Industries Association (PRIA) and Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHILVOCS), with the objective to foster collaboration in enhancing the development of the rubber industry.

MREPC's Inaugural Participation at INA PAACE Automechanika Mexico City 2017
MREPC participated for the first time at INA PAACE Automechanika Mexico City 2017 which was held from 14 to 16 June 2017 at Centro Banamex, Mexico City, Mexico. The annual event provides a cohesive platform for the automotive OEM and aftermarket industry. The event attracted more than 500 exhibitors and over 20,000 key buyers. Most of the buyers were from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, India, Mexico, South Korea and the US.
MREPC hosted five rubber automotive component manufacturers under its pavilion who showcased a wide range of high-quality rubber automotive components from Malaysia. Two other Malaysian rubber automotive component manufacturers participated on their own.
The majority of enquiries received by MREPC were from local visitors as well as from Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, India, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, UAE and the US. Rubber parts for passenger vehicles such as radiator hoses, engine mountings, CV boots, beltings and O-rings were the most enquired products.

Contribution of One Million Rubber Medical Gloves to Perak State Health Department
To further strengthen glove awareness in the country, MREPC successfully organised an event to contribute one million rubber gloves to the Perak State Health Department on Sunday, 21 May 2017. The eventful ceremony was officiated by YB. Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, who presented a mock cheque for one million gloves to YBhg. Dato' Dr Hassan Merican, the Director of Perak State Health Department. The gloves will be distributed to hospitals, clinics, dental clinics and other medical institutions throughout Perak. The glove contribution is aimed at supporting the State Health Department's efforts to improve healthcare services as well as share the importance of glove usage with the healthcare community and public.
In conjunction with the glove contribution ceremony, MREPC also organised a Karnival 1 Juta Sarung Tangan Getah Negeri Perak at the historical site of Dataran Menara Condong, Teluk Intan. The venue was an ideal location to attract the public to enjoy an array of fun activities such as an aerobic exercise, fun games with many prizes to win, a clown and balloon show, as well photo and exhibition booths. Teluk Intan Hospital also provided free health screening and conducted a blood donation drive which attracted the public. The event marked MREPC's second series of glove donation to state health departments after its first to Sarawak in 2016.

International Rubber Industry Conference and Exhibition (IRICE) 2017
MREPC participated at the International Rubber Industry Conference and Exhibition (IRICE) 2017 from 19 - 20 May 2017 at Top Glove Tower, Setia Alam. IRICE 2017 was organised by the Malaysian Rubber Products Manufacturers Association (MRPMA in conjunction with its 65th anniversary celebration, with the theme 'Innovating for Tomorrow'.
The conference covered presentations on pertinent topics such as R&D developments, rubber trade, investment and price trends while the exhibition showcased Malaysian manufacturers' capability in producing a variety of high-quality rubber products. The range of products included medical gloves, condoms, industrial hoses, compounding materials and rubber compounding services. Notably, IRICE 2017 provided a platform for sharing of experiences as well as linked manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors with rubber and rubber products.
MREPC's booth attracted many visitors from China and Taiwan. The majority of enquiries received were on nitrile and latex examination gloves and other rubber products, namely industrial gloves, latex threads, condoms, insulation gloves and natural rubber.

The Malaysian pavilion received an overwhelming response at the recently concluded China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) Spring held from 15-18 May 2017 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC), in Shanghai, China. The Malaysian pavilion, comprising MREPC together with 13 Malaysian rubber medical device manufacturers, showcased a wide range of rubber medical gloves and other rubber medical devices. It attracted many visitors who were interested in seeking high-quality made-in-Malaysia rubber medical devices.
The Malaysian pavilion with its attractive colours drew many visitors who were keen to find out more about MREPC and the participating Malaysian manufacturers. Throughout the 4-day event, MREPC's booth was busy with business-matching sessions with potential buyers and trade enquiries.

MREPC's Inaugural Participation at International Seminar on Natural Rubber in Roads
MREPC participated for the first time at the International Seminar on Natural Rubber in Roads 2017. The event, which was held at the Centre of Excellence for Engineering & Technology JKR (CREaTE), Alor Gajah, Melaka, aimed to promote the use of rubber products particularly in road construction and infrastructure. An engineering rubber product manufacturer, Doshin Rubber Products, also participated at the exhibition.
The exhibition showcased a series of products and services related to construction and infrastructure, namely nano technology for road construction, traffic safety & pavement marking, road maintenance solution, pavement rehabilitation, road upgrading and advanced high-technology data collection for road improvement. A number of reputable companies involved in road construction in Malaysia such as Roadcare, Kemaman Bitumen, Shell Bitumen and Regent Holdings also participated at the event.
Several papers were presented by experienced local speakers which covered rubber compatibility with asphalt in road surfacing, the importance of rubberised modified bitumen and the history of natural rubber modified bitumen for road construction in Malaysia. Speakers from China, India and Thailand also shared their experience in applying natural rubber into modified bitumen in their home countries.
MREPC’s booth received several visitors mainly from the Public Works Department (PWD) throughout Malaysia and local road builders as well as local and foreign researchers. The majority of enquiries were on rubber expansion joints, rubber speed bumpers and other related products such as rubber parking posts and cat’s eye.

Seminars on Seismic Bearings in Indonesia Attract Construction Industry Experts
MREPC successfully organised a specialised mission on engineering rubber products to Jakarta and Medan, Indonesia from 26 - 30 April 2017. The mission was led by Ms Low Yoke Kiew, CEO of MREPC.
During the mission, MREPC organised an educational seminar in Jakarta and Medan respectively as well as a business-matching session for the participating Malaysian manufacturer in Jakarta. Speakers from Indonesia and Malaysia presented papers during the seminars, which were attended by a total of 163 participants. The Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr Zhamshari Shaharan, attended the seminar in Jakarta. At the seminar in Medan, the Consul General of Malaysia, the Honourable Mr Amizal Fadzli Rajali, delivered some special remarks.
The seminars attracted civil and structural engineers, engineering consultants, engineering professors and students from universities as well as officers from construction firms. The seminars highlighted current developments in structural bearings as well as provided a platform for industry experts to establish networking with the Malaysian manufacturer.

MREPC, together with 13 Malaysian rubber medical device manufacturers, will be participating at the 77th China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF), from 15 -18 May 2017 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC) in Shanghai, China.
Held since 1979, CMEF has evolved to become the largest trade show of medical devices, related products and services in the Asia-Pacific region. The trade show is huge covering some 15,000 products such as medical imaging, IVD equipment and reagent, medical electronics, medical optics, first aid, rehabilitation devices, nursing, telemedicine, wearable devices and outsourcing services. CMEF serves the entire value chain of medical devices from the source of manufacturing to the healthcare service providers and end users.

MREPC to Participate in the Inaugural International Seminar on Natural Rubber in Roads 2017
MREPC will participate at the inauguralInternational Seminar on Natural Rubber in Roads which will be held at the Centre of Excellence for Engineering & Technology,Public Works Department(CREaTE) in Alor Gajah, Melaka from 27 - 28 April 2017. Theseminar is jointlyorganised by CREaTE and the Road Engineering Association of Malaysia (REAM).
The seminar will provide a platform for presentation of research findings, discussion and exchange of ideas on innovative and cutting-edge technologies related to the use of natural rubber in roads. It will also update road industry players on the latest development regarding the use of natural rubber in roads. In addition, it will give awareness to the road industry players on issues and challenges arising from the implementation of using natural rubber in roads.
International speakers from 10 countries will share their knowledge and research on natural rubber in roads at the seminar. Around 20 exhibitors and more than 200 seminar participants and visitors are expected to attend the event.

Successful Working Visit to Germany and the Netherlands
MREPC successfully organised a working visit to Germany and the Netherlands from 28 March - 6 April 2017. The delegation, which was led by the Chief Executive Officer of MREPC, Ms Low Yoke Kiew, comprised four Malaysian rubber product manufacturers as well as a representative each from the Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers Association (MARGMA) and the Malaysian Rubber Products Manufacturers Association (MRPMA).
The delegation visited the manufacturing facilities of some German and Dutch companies and were exposed to the latest technologies in robotics and automation. In Germany, the Malaysian delegates met with officials from FLG Automation, HAHN Automation and the Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA). In the Netherlands, the delegates had meetings with Vicoma Engineering, Dutch Dipping, Machinefabriek Boessenkool and Smart Robotics.
The delegates also had discussions with the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA), Rotterdam Partners, Rotterdam Port of Authority, Holland International Distribution Council (HIDC) and Rhenus Contract Logistics. This enabled the delegates to discover the opportunities available in the area of logistics and tax incentives provided in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The delegates also learned the benefits of using the Port of Rotterdam as an entry point to Europe as well as supporting services provided by relevant organisations in the Netherlands.

MREPC Participates at Medical Fair India 2017
MREPC had a successful participation at Medical Fair India 2017 held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India from 6 - 8 April 2017. The MREPC Pavilion housed five Malaysian manufacturers who showcased a wide range of rubber medical devices during the 3-day event.
MREPC's striking yellow and green pavilion received a good turnout from visitors. Most of them were local visitors with the majority of enquiries on medical gloves. Several business-matching sessions were successfully coordinated between the prospective buyers and participating Malaysian manufacturers. The five manufacturers reported positive potential sales from the event and indicated interest to participate again in the coming Medical Fair India which will be held in Mumbai next year.

Successful Buyers' Sourcing Programme in Conjunction With Participation at Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2017
MREPC had a promotional booth at the biennial Automechanika Kuala Lumpur held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 23 - 25 March 2017. The event attracted more than 8,000 visitors and 246 exhibitors from China, Europe, Malaysia, Taiwan and Singapore. Besides MREPC's booth, four other Malaysian rubber automotive component manufacturers participated on their own.
The majority of enquiries received by MREPC were from local visitors as well as those from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Iraq, Pakistan, Russia and Singapore. Most of the enquiries were on rubber parts for passenger vehicles such as radiator hoses, engine mountings, CV boots, beltings and O-rings.
In conjunction with the event, MREPC organised a Buyers' Sourcing Programme on rubber automotive components. There were two potential buyers from Mexico and Indonesia. They were interested in sourcing rubber automotive components such as seals, engine mountings, rubber bushings, weather-strips, moulded rubber parts and rubber parts for brake systems. MREPC also conducted a total of 17 business-matching sessions with 11 manufacturers.

Specialised Mission to Indonesia on ERP
MREPC is organising a specialised mission on engineering rubber products (ERP) to Jakarta and Medan, Indonesia from 26 - 30 April 2017. The mission will be led by the CEO of MREPC, Ms Low Yoke Kiew. A seminar themed "Risk Mitigation Against Earthquakes Through High-Damping Technology" will be held in Jakarta on 27 April and in Medan on 29 April.
Several international and local speakers will be presenting papers at the seminars. The seminars present an excellent opportunity for civil and structural engineers, engineering consultants, professors and students in engineering from universities, and officers from construction firms, relevant organisations and regulatory authorities to learn current developments in structural bearing products. In addition, the participants will be able to establish networking with experts in seismic rubber bearings.
MREPC is also arranging business meetings during the mission for participants to establish contacts, generate new business leads and meet potential distributors or partners.

MREPC will participate at the 23rd Medical Fair India in New Delhi, India from 6 - 8 April 2017, together with five Malaysian medical rubber device manufacturers. Medical Fair India, the leading trade fair for India's hospitals, health centres and clinics, is an annual medical and healthcare event held alternately in Mumbai and New Delhi.
The event offers an ideal platform to access the Indian market. It showcases the latest medical devices and technology as well as hospital equipment and furnishings besides a wide range of healthcare related products and services. The trade fair will also focus on mobile health solutions and health IT which is increasingly becoming popular.

Working Visit to Germany and Netherlands
MREPC will organise a working visit to Germany and Netherlands from 28 March - 6 April 2017. The working visit, comprising several delegates from Malaysia, will be led by MREPC's Chief Executive Officer, Ms Low Yoke Kiew.
The Malaysian delegates will be meeting with leading robotics and automation companies in Germany and Netherlands. The objective of this meeting is to explore potential collaboration between Malaysian rubber product manufacturers with German and Dutch organisations in the field of robotics and automation. The Malaysian delegates hope to establish link and knowledge sharing to further automate and improve the overall value chain of manufacturing process.
In Netherlands, the Rotterdam Partners and Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency are among the organisations that will be meeting the Malaysian delegates. The meetings will include identifying advantages of using the Port of Rotterdam as a gateway to Europe, supporting services provided by relevant organisations and tax incentives.

Working Visit to Germany and Netherlands
MREPC Buyers' Sourcing Programme in Conjunction With Participation at Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2017
MREPC will participate at the biennial Automechanika Kuala Lumpur, a leading regional trade fair for the automotive industry. The event will be held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 23 - 25 March 2017. It is expected to attract more than 8,000 visitors and 300 exhibitors from around the world. A variety of rubber automotive components such as engine mounts, hoses, bellows, rubber profiles, seals, O-rings, industrial rubber gloves and multipurpose gloves will be displayed at the MREPC booth.
In conjunction with the event, MREPC will organise a Buyers' Sourcing Programme on rubber automotive components. This will assist Malaysian rubber automotive component manufacturers and suppliers to meet importers and distributors of automotive components from overseas. Through this programme, Malaysian rubber automotive component manufacturers will be able to establish contacts, generate new business leads and meet potential distributors or partners.

MREPC to Participate at CMEE 2017 in Jinan
MREPC will participate for the first time at the 37th China International Medical Equipment Expo (CMEE), which will be held in Jinan, Shandong Province, P.R. China from 9 - 11 March 2017.
The trade show, which is jointly organised by Chenghua Exhibition and Shandong Medical Association, will be held at Jinan International Exhibition Centre. It is expected to receive over 35,000 visitors from Shandong and surrounding regions.

MREPC to Participate at CMEE 2017 in Jinan
Invitation to Participate in a Tender Briefing for MREPC's Booth Design and Construction for Trade Shows from July - December 2017
The Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council (MREPC) invites Malaysian contractors to participate in a tender briefing for MREPC's booth design and construction for trade shows from July to December 2017.
Only prequalified booth contractors are eligible to participate in the tender briefing. The criteria for Prequalification of Booth Contractors are as follows:-
Interested companies will need to provide the necessary supporting documents including the company's profile and portfolio to fulfil the above requirements to Ms Sheen at sheen@mrepc.com not later than 15 March 2017 (Wednesday).
The information submitted by the companies will be verified and a notification will be sent to the prequalified booth contractors/companies. The prequalified companies will need to confirm their attendance at the tender briefing in advance with Ms Sheen at sheen@mrepc.com. Companies that are not able to send their representative to attend the briefing will be excluded from the tender process.

MREPC Participates at Arab Health 2017
MREPC, together with 11 Malaysian rubber medical device manufacturers participated at Arab Health 2017, to showcase and promote high quality made-in-Malaysia rubber medical devices. Arab Health is the largest healthcare exhibition in the Middle East and the second largest in the world.
The 42nd series of Arab Health was held from 30 January - 2 February 2017 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It provided a holistic and engaging platform for business as well as information exchange on latest developments in the Middle East healthcare industry. The majority of visitors who attended the event were dealers, importers, distributors and representatives from hospitals and laboratories from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The MREPC Pavilion, which spanned 108sqm, received visitors mostly from the Middle East with enquiries predominantly on medical gloves. Business-matching sessions were also coordinated during the 4-day event. All participating manufacturers were extremely satisfied with the outcome of the event and indicated their interest to participate in the next series in 2018.

MREPC Participates at Arab Health 2017
Successful Specialised Mission to Myanmar
MREPC successfully organised a specialised mission on engineering rubber products to Yangon, Myanmar from 10 - 11 February 2017. The mission was led by Ms Low Yoke Kiew, CEO of MREPC. The mission comprised a seminar on The Use of Base Isolation to Protect Structures Against Earthquake Damage business-matching sessions with potential buyers; as well as a site inspection and meetings with officers from the Ministry of Construction, Myanmar for the coordination of the donation of rubber bearings.
The one-day seminar was attended by a total of 82 participants while 11 business-matching sessions were arranged by MREPC. The site inspection was to the Bayintnaung Bridge in Yangon which has been identified to be retrofitted with High-Damping Natural Rubber Bearings donated by MREPC and Doshin. The installation of the rubber bearings is expected to be completed by the second half of 2017.

Successful Specialised Mission to Myanmar
Inaugural Participation At WCEE 2017, Santiago, Chile
MREPC participated for the first time at the World Conference on Earthquake Engineering (WCEE) 2017 which was held in Casapiedra Convention Centre, Santiago, Chile. The 16th series of the WCEE started on 9 January and concluded on 13 January 2017. The conference was organised by the Chilean Association on Seismology and Earthquake Engineering (ACHISINA) in collaboration with other agencies. More than 2,000 seminar papers were presented throughout the 5-day event. The papers presented were mainly on seismology and earthquake engineering.
A Malaysian engineering rubber products manufacturer participated at the MREPC umbrella concept booth, showcasing high quality made-in-Malaysia engineering rubber products. The majority of enquiries were on high-damping natural rubber bearings (HDRB) and other rubber engineering products such as bridge bearings, dock fenders and expansion joints.

MREPC Participates in Arab Health 2017
First -Time Participation in World Conference on Earthquake Engineering in Santiago, Chile
MREPC will participate for the first time in the 16th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering (16th WCEE), which will be held in Santiago, Chile from 9 - 13 January 2017. The conference, which is organised by the International Association of Earthquake Engineering, is expected to receive over 4,000 delegates.
Since its inception in 1956, the conference has been held every four years in different countries. WCEE offers a stimulating environment to exchange knowledge, ideas, research outcomes and practical experience on seismic engineering. It is expected to draw the participation of a multi-disciplinary global community of scientists, engineers, architects, planners and policymakers, with the common interest in promoting earthquake risk reduction.
MREPC together with a Malaysian manufacturer will exhibit and promote quality engineering rubber products such as high-damping natural rubber bearings, bridge bearings, expansion joints and dock fenders at the event.
